Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty: It’s a classic that we grew up on and it’s one of those timeless tales that will never get old. It’s also out of the Disney vault, and will be coming to stores and your favorite DVD rental site October 7, 2008 for your family viewing pleasure!
The 50th Anniversary 2-disc Platinum Edition of Sleeping Beauty is digitally restored, both visually and in audio, and is going to be available in DVD
and Blu-Ray. The Blu-Ray version even includes a regular DVD of the movie. My favorite part is that the Disney team actually restored an expanded view of the movie, so that you see much more and it’s now also the perfect size for widescreens without any distortion.
There are tons of special features, including a remake of the Sleeping Beauty theme song “Once Upon a Dream” by Emily Osment from Hannah Montana. As a side note, I’d just like to mention that I so like Emily’s light melodic voice better than Miley’s nasally croon. The DVD set also includes two games for your little princess, deleted songs, an alternate opening, princess facts, a feature on Tchaikovsky and so, so much more. It’s pretty much just chock full of princess-y fun and really worth it if you’re a Disney film fanatic.
I just adore the “magic of Disney.” This movie is an absolute romantic classic, and hey, even littleQ was enraptured by the colorfully magical fairies and their antics as they attempted to give Aurora a special birthday and the final brawl between Prince Phillip and the Maleficent.
You know how it is, pretty soon Disney’s going to put Sleeping Beauty back in the vault, so jump on the opportunity to add this to your family’s DVD collection when it comes out next week. Plus, it’s never too early to go Christmas shopping and there has to be one person on your list who’d appreciate this DVD in her stocking!
