Early Intervention is definitely a wonderful program! What I especially like is that although the administrative tasks are taken on by the local DOH, you don't deal with government therapists or programs.. you deal with therapists and teachers from private agencies, schools and organizations, so you always have your pick and can therefore have control over the quality of service provided to your child.

I wish that I would have known about that when my daughter was 3. She didn't start using 2 word sentences until she was 3. One summer she took off talking like a normal 3 year old. She is 11 and has been in special education for 2 years now because she has a difficult time with comprehension. She is delayed in a lot of things. I would recommend that any parent that sees that their tot is behind, to get them the help that they need. It will pay off in the long run.

I swear by Early Intervention - if any parent has a concern it is a must! My son has Autism ang getting him in EI was the BEST thing we ever did. I have another blog (www.flutterandfly.com) and on it I have a listing of Early Intervention by state - it is just a resource for anyone who needs it. This is a great post!
