This week mrQ and I are both on vacation from work.  While we hadn’t engineered some sort of exciting pre-Thanksgiving tropical escape, we had planned that this would be a completely relaxing family week.  But, as it turns out, he’s come down with a bug, so instead, this week mommy’s playing nurse (no, not like that you pervs).  The past few days have consisted of a lot of heating up soup and Vix rubbings.  Good thing littleQ and I haven’t gotten sick

Ah well, in other news I just received a book from another member of PaperBackSwap.com.  Ever hear of that site?  Its where you can request books and trade books with other members for almost nothing (just the cost of shipping).  It rocks and helps bookworms like me save oh so much money. 

Anyway, the book I received is called Baby Names Your Child Can Live With by Lisa Shaw.  Okay, so it was published three years ago, which is like death for a baby name book, but it’s still pretty awesome.  It doesn’t just list names and their origins and definitions, it also categorizes them based on how, um, different you’re willing to be: Tried and True Classics, Slightly Daring Choices and Living on the Edge.  If you’re looking for a truly unique name for your baby but want to make sure you know what it means and in which language, this book is pretty good.  2 out of the 3 ratings this book received on Amazon are very poor, with the raters pointing out that many of the definitions are incorrect (so I will heed that advice and double check meanings if I do find a name in here that I can convince the hubby to like).  I did not agree with one of the reviews that noted that the names are just trendy.  The book does contain some “trendy” names, as all name books do, but a lot of the ones included in this book most certainly aren’t, like Pelika, Alarice and Oberon (Ooh Shakepeare!).

The hubster and I have (sort of) come to a standstill regarding baby #2’s name, by the way.  We’ve come to a tentative agreement for a girl’s name, but are still in full disagreement regarding a boy’s name.  Err.. can’t wait for my complete fetal anatomy ultrasound on 12/1 so we can at least find out if we should be bickering about a boy or girl’s name.
