Blog Commenting Etiquette: Quality Versus Quantity

Bloggers are story tellers.

Quite simply, we’re grassroots reporters, whether our features cover personal reactions to the BP Oil Spill, our favorite organic baby foods, Hollywood’s latest disaster star, Intel’s latest processor, or anything and everything in between.  As such, most, if not all, of us wholeheartedly want, welcome and wish for comments.  We absolutely thrive on this interactive feedback from our oftentimes faceless audience, and after a small taste, we very nearly crave the dialogue created on our blogs through our comment systems.

Ultimate Masochists

Mothers: Are We The Ultimate Masochists?

What do you think of when you think of the word mother?  For myself, the word has always spurred to mind visions of a tireless caretaker armed with seemingly superhuMOM strength, who deftly and unerringly handles the daily grind of motherhood while constantly showering unconditional love on the fruit of her loins – an awesomely well-rounded mouthful that many of us ache to embody, don’t you think?

Secret Savings

Secret Savings: Is it Really Financial Infidelity?

I say: Assuming you keep this little secret stash of reserved moolah from your spouse with intentions ofgood and not evil, then no, I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with having a little sumptin’sumptin’ kept in a jar under your bed.  Or, in a totally separate savings account.  Whatever floats your boat.

Toasted Almond Love & a Sweet-stakes from Good Humor

Good Humor Toasted AlmondFor as long as I can remember, my absolute favorite ice cream bar of choice was always Toasted Almond.  Mmm!  Just thinking about it definitely makes me yearn for those long, lazy, utterly simple summer days when I’d yell “Ice Cream!!!”  as soon as I would hear the ice cream truck’s jingle from blocks away.

Lunchtime in elementary school was especially awesome when I had an extra dollar to buy myself a Toasted Almond bar.  Seriously, my childhood love for this particular ice cream treat rivals my current love affair with cupcakes.

It looks like at least one of my boys has inherited my love of Good Humor Toasted Almond Ice Cream Bars!  And why wouldn’t babyQ fall in love with the yummy treat, with it’s smooth fusion of vanilla, almond and sweet crunchy “toasted almond” bits?

Make Money Tweeting? Seriously? Serious as Spock!

Butt Glued to the Computer Chair While You Tweet Away? Capitalize on Your Twitter Account.

Okay, so you’re not an eBay power seller, nor are you a novelist finishing up your next bestseller.  You don’t have some sweet agreement with your Fortune 500 company to telecommute and you’re not some kind of famous blogger.  But… you do spend a bit of time online.  It would be nice to be able to take that time spent and make a tiny bit of moolah, wouldn’t it?

Unless you’re Holly from the Girls Next Door or one of those chicks from The Hills, you’re certainly not going to get rich doing this, but hey, if you’ve got a decent following on Twitter, it’ll take you mere minutes, even seconds, per day, and those dollars and cents, they do add up

Frugalista mamas need every cent they can get their hands on, after all :)

Parent’s Choice Baby Formula: New Packaging, Same Quality and Great Price

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of PBM Products. All opinions are 100% mine.

I’ve mentioned before on this blog that once parenting is a part of one’s job description, the fiscal juggling we mamas have to do sometimes is enough to turn any brand name addict and shopaholic into a bona fide frugalista.  However, frugal doesn’t mean you scrimp on quality, it just means you’re artfully adept at scoring the best deals on the best quality products for yourself and your family.

Cool and Unique for School – $8 off Custom Binders at Zazzle

If I remember correctly, it was around the time when I turned 7 or 8 when I started being conscious of the “coolness” of my school supplies.  Back then, Lisa Frank was all the rage, and if you didn’t have a unicorns, sparkles and puppies pasted all over your school supplies, you’d be looking on in longing at all the girls in class who did.  I know, because I did.  {wonk wonk}  We were always last minute shoppers for everything, and by the time we got to CVS or Kmart, all the super cool folders, notebooks and binders were always taken already.

Well, we can do even better for our kids now than semi psychedelic 90s pop art.

Through Aug. 15, 2010 shoppers can take $8 off ALL ready to order and custom designed binders at Zazzle!

Enter BTSRULEAVERY at checkout for your discount.

Zazzle uses high quality Avery binders, and you’ll get full-color, photo quality.

Caring or Overbearing: In Which I Accept That My Son is Growing Up

This September, will be starting preschool (full day, 5 days a week.. it’s serious!), and I am about to be introduced to the wiley, unpredictable and often terrifying world of parenting a school aged child.

{gasp}

Sometimes I just want to him to get back in my belly where nothing and nobody can hurt him.  But, since we all know that’s not possible… I’ll just have to learn to deal.

I admit rather grudgingly that I am an indulgent parent.  In certain cases.

kristinaQ & littleQ - May 2006Whine, stomp, shed a few tears, no, those won’t work with me.

Ask sweetly, show me those big, round puppy dog eyes and say, “It’s okay, Mommy, we’ll get it next time, right?” {aww, littleQ!}, and my heart melts quicker than the seconds it takes for me to swipe my debit card at the register.

Oh these boys.  So young, and they already know how to play their mama.

Tip: Get Paint Out of Clothes with Eco-Friendly Simple Green

Because we’re in the middle of moving and all the fun cleaning and painting that comes with that, this weekend I carelessly splattered paint on my non painting clothes.

{sad face}

For about thirty seconds I bitched lamented at to my husband, bemoaning my misfortune, to which he replied simply, “I told you to change your clothes.”

Simple Green Concentrated All Purpose Cleaning SolutionGood News: Earlier that day we had gone to Home Depot (Big day for me!), and being the somewhat eco-conscious mama that I am, I insisted on purchasing the concentrated, super strength, non-toxic and biodegradable Simple Green cleaning solution as opposed to one of the other totally toxic and non-biodegradable (though no doubt super effective) cleansers.

Since this cleaning solution will be going everywhere on everything, I convinced my husband that a few extra dollars were worth it to make sure we and our children would be free from suffocating fumes and unsafe liquids requiring commercial grade rubber gloves to handle.

Coupon Code: Free Shipping At Linens N’ Things

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of LinensNThings. All opinions are 100% mine.

image Linens ‘N Things always has such an awesome selection, not only in store, but online at LNT.com, too!  I know that I’m in the market for some new sheets, and the selection at LNT.com is pretty expansive, and I’m seriously having a hard time choosing which one just because there’s so much to choose from!

Because of the lack of closet space in our new residence, I know I’m going to have to be looking for one of those garment racks that we can use temporarily.  Temporary doesn’t mean poor quality though, and Linens N’ Things has got enough of a selection for me to be sure that when I buy a couple next week, I’m sure I’ll be able to find a nice, sturdy and good quality one right in my price range.  They’ve got some decent looking ones starting in the $30 range – mama likes!

What YOU Need for Cupcake Love at Home (and Free Shipping, too!)

Did you know that I love cupcakes?  If I was to be stranded on a desert island, but was given the option to choose the one food I’d want an unlimited supply of, it would be cupcakes.  I’d try to pace myself, of course!  Yup, no food gives me more pleasure than a sinfully decadent, sweetly intoxicating, silky moist, perfectly baked and expertly iced cupcake, especially one from Magnolia Bakery.

It’s nirvana for my tastebuds.
